Butterfly Species Blue Butterflies have fascinated us for his or her magnificence, frailty and the mystery surrounding its life. For time immortal, the great thing about butterflies had not only impressed poetic and inventive imagination, but also has captured the curiosity of even of the small children.
It's clear that even our ancestors had been moved by their behavior. After they seen hundreds of butterflies migrating towards "Sripada" (the sacred mountain which the Buddhists imagine the Buddha's foot print was stamped) through the pilgrim season, they believed that the butterflies had been migrating to pay homage to the Buddha. Thus they went to the extent of naming essentially the most sacred mountain of Sri Lanka, the Sripada, as "Samanala kanda".
At current, though this migration still takes place in some areas of Sri Lanka, it could not been seen in many of the areas, on account of human intervention on the environment. Thus it is unhappy to notice that many of the current younger era, has not seen this nature's fascinating spectacle. Still there is hope, as environmentalist and others who have taken interest in this subject, has learned that by offering the necessary surroundings, we could still recreate this vanishing butterfly migration.
